Heart Mountain WWII Japanese American Confinement Site was the first camp we arrived at in early May of 2016. The local paper covered our visit. Click here for a link to the story.

After our conversation this evening I remembered some things about my family. My first cousin Philip Yampolsky PhD was a professor of East Asian Culture at Columbia U. in NYC. He married a Japanese woman ( she still lives on Morningside ave.) Her son Robert Yampolsky also has a Japanese wife, and 2 little girls. He does Japanese-American translations for various companies. A close friend of the family Professor Ruth Krader who also was a PhD teaching about East Asian Culture at Columbia moved to Seattle I think when she retired. ( Both are deceased. ) They are so naturally part of the family that I forgot about them!
